30th July, Current Affairs:

  • India’s tiger population is estimated to be 3,925 with an annual growth rate of 6.1% per annum. This was revealed in a report released by Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Ashwini Kumar on the occasion of Global Tiger Day.
  • The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully launched Singapore’s DS-SAR satellite and six co-passenger payloads from the first launch pad of SDSC-SHAR in Sriharikota using the PSLV-C56 rocket.
  • The Indian team of Aman Saini and Pragati clinched gold in the mixed-team compound archery event at the FISU World University Games in Chengdu, China.

  • The Lok Sabha passed the National Nursing and Midwifery Commission Bill, 2023, which seeks to provide for regulation and maintenance of standards of education and services by nursing and midwifery professionals.
  • India finished 2nd on the medals tally at the recently concluded ISSF Junior Shooting World Championships 2023 in Changwon, South Korea, with Indian shooters bagging 17 medals, including 6 Gold, 6 Silver, and 5 Bronze.

  • The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully completed the orbit-changing process (Earthbound-firing-2) and sent Chandrayaan-3 to Earth’s fifth and last orbit. ISRO will now send Chandrayaan-3 to the Moon’s orbit between 12 a.m. and midnight on August 1.
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated the International Exhibition-cum-Convention Centre (IECC) complex to the nation at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi.
  • The Nation celebrates Kargil Vijay Diwas today, remembering the sacrifice made by soldiers of the Indian Army.

20th July, Current Affairs:

  • Parliament’s monsoon session began with 31 bills listed by the government for passage.
  • India’s passport ranked 80th in the Henley Passport Index, moving up five places from its position in 2022. Indians can now travel to 57 destinations without a visa. Singapore has the world’s most powerful passport, allowing visa-free entry to 192 global destinations, replacing Japan.
  • The biggest FIFA Women’s Football World Cup kicked off in New Zealand and Australia, with New Zealand defeating Norway 1-0 in Auckland’s Eden Park in the opening match.

18th July, Current Affairs:

  • The newly built International Diamond Bourse in Gujarat’s Surat has taken the title of the world’s largest office building, surpassing the Pentagon. Surat is renowned as the gem capital of the world, where over 90 percent of the world’s diamonds are cut.
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the integrated terminal building of Veer Savarkar International Airport, Port Blair, through video conferencing.
  • Former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has passed away at the age of 79. Chandy was the Chief Minister of Kerala twice.

  • The number of persons living in multidimensional poverty in the country has fallen from 24.85 percent to 14.96 percent between 2015-16 and 2019-21, as revealed in the National Multidimensional Poverty Index released by the NITI Aayog.
  • Marketa Vondrousova triumphed over Ons Jabeur in straight sets 6-4, 6-4 to win the Wimbledon women’s singles final.
  • In Bangkok, the Indian 4X400 m mixed relay team won the gold medal at the Asian Athletics Championships 2023.
  • In Para Athletics, Ajeet Singh clinched the gold medal in the finals of the Men’s javelin throw F46 in the ongoing Championships in Paris.
  • In Wimbledon Tennis, World number one Carlos Alcaraz defeated Novak Djokovic at the All England Club to win his first Wimbledon 2023 title with a 1-6, 7-6(6), 6-1, 3-6, 6-4 victory.

14th July, Current Affairs:

  • India’s Chandrayaan-3 lifted off from Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh, making India the fourth country to achieve a controlled landing on the moon, after Russia, the United States, and China. The spacecraft will attempt a soft landing on the Moon by the end of August.
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with French President Emmanuel Macron, witnessed the Bastille Day Parade in Paris, with Mr. Modi attending as the Guest of Honour.
  • Yashasvi Jaiswal became the 17th India batter to score a century on Test debut, and the first to do so outside Asia in more than 21 years.

12th July, Current Affairs:

  • Oil and Natural Gas Corporation became the first Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) in India to receive certification for its Anti-Bribery Management System (ABMS) by INTERCERTUSA, an internationally accredited certification body.
  • India has secured the second position in the World Archery Youth Championships, 2023 held from July 3-9 in Ireland by winning the maximum number of 11 medals.
  • India won the 34th International Biology Olympiad by securing Four Gold Medals at an 8-day event in Al Ain, UAE.
  • Lakshya Sen clinched the men’s singles title at the 58th Canada Open 2023.

11th July, Current Affairs:

  • Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) regional office in Kuala Lumpur today.
  • India and Bangladesh have started bilateral trade in rupees. It was launched at an event jointly organized by Bangladesh Bank and the High Commission of India in Dhaka today.
  • United Nations has said that India has registered a remarkable reduction in poverty with 41.5 crore people coming out of it in just 15 years. The UN said, 25 countries, including India, successfully halved their global Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) values within 15 years.
  • Today is World Population Day. The objective of the day is to increase awareness of the people towards the worldwide population issues. The theme for World Population Day 2023 is ‘Unleashing the power of gender equality: Uplifting the voices of women and girls to unlock our world’s infinite possibilities.’

10th July, Current Affairs:

  • The monsoon rainfall wreaked havoc in parts of north India on Monday, especially in Himachal Pradesh. Till now 72 Killed in Himachal Monsoon Fury.
  • Investment Bank Goldman Sachs has said that India is poised to become the world’s second-largest economy by 2075, surpassing Japan, Germany, and the U.S.
  • Parth Salunkhe became the first male archer to win a gold in the recurve category at the Youth World Championships at Limerick, Ireland.

6th July, Current Affairs:

  • The first IIT campus outside India will come up at Zanzibar in Tanzania, the Ministry of External Affairs said. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed for the setting up of a campus of IIT Madras in Zanzibar.
  • Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) said that Chandrayaan 3 will be launched on the 14th of this month around 2:35 PM from Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota.
  • Ajit Agarkar has been appointed as chairman of the Senior Men’s Cricket Selection Committee.
  • Indian archers Priyansh and Avneet Kaur won gold in the junior mixed team compound event, defeating Israel in the final of the World Archery Youth Championships in Limerick, Ireland.

4th July, Current Affairs:

  • India hosted the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit today in virtual format. The 23rd Summit of the SCO Council of Heads of State was chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
  • India beat Kuwait 5-4 in penalties after the match ended 1-1 in regulation time to clinch their ninth SAFF Championship title.

2nd July, Current Affairs:

  • The world’s oldest national newspaper, Vienna-based Wiener Zeitung, ended its daily print edition after 320 years. The newspaper began publishing in 1703.
  • India becomes the second-largest country with the biggest road network after beating China. While the United States remains in the number one position. The report says India successfully reserved the position by spreading 1.45-lakh km of road connectivity over the last 8 years.
  • Nationalist Congress Party’s Ajit Pawar, along with eight party leaders, joined the Maharashtra government today. Mr. Pawar will share the Deputy Chief Minister post with BJP’s Devendra Fadnavis.

1st July, Current Affairs:

  • The Prime Minister inaugurated the 17th Indian Cooperative Congress (ICC) in New Delhi today.
  • The boards of directors of Housing Development Finance Corp Ltd (HDFC) and HDFC Bank approved the merger between the two institutions effective from 1st July 2023, creating the world’s fourth biggest bank by market value behind JP Morgan, ICBC, and Bank of America.
  • Olympic Champion Neeraj Chopra won the Lausanne Diamond League event with an 87.66m throw. Chopra beat his closest competitors – Germany’s Julian Weber and Czech Republic’s Jakub Vadlejch by a narrow margin. This was Chopra’s second Lausanne Diamond League win in two years.
  • As many as 26 people died and several others were injured after a bus caught fire on the Samruddhi Mahamarg Expressway in Maharashtra. The bus was traveling from Yavatmal to Pune.
